The purpose of National American Indian Heritage Month in November is to honor and recognize the continuing contributions Native Americans make to this country. National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month is celebrated to recognize the intertribal cultures and to educate the public about the heritage, history, art and traditions of the American Indian that is an important part of our history.
